[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Government of Kerala has decided to introduce Health Insurance Scheme for employees and pensioners in the State. The Tenth Pay Revision Commission had recommended to introduce Health Insurance Scheme for employees and pensioners in the State. Based on this the Government vide order G.O (P) No. 9/2016/Fin dated 20/01/2016 ordered to introduce Medical Insurance Scheme to pensioners and family pensioners. In the Budget Speech 2017-18, the Finance Minister announced that the Health Insurance Scheme will be implemented during 2017-18.
Now, the Government has accorded sanction for implementing Health Insurance Scheme for State Government employees, pensioners and family pensioners (G.O (P) No. 54/2017/Fin dated 24 April 2017). The premium of the employee will be deducted in instalments from their salary. The premium for pensioners / family pensioners will be adjusted against the medical allowance now given. For pensioners who are not eligible for medical allowance in full or part (Part time contingent employees, etc.) the premium may be collected from them as the case may be. Health Insurance Scheme will be implemented through the insurance company approved by IRDA after a competitive bidding process giving preference to public sector insurance companies.
