Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 2022-23: Guidelines & Application Form

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship of Rs.5000 each is awarded to BPL students studying in Government/Aided Higher Secondary Schools. The scheme has been running since 2007-08. The scholarship is given to those who are selected on the basis of merit after receiving applications from Plus One students and checking them by the school-level committee. For those who qualify for the scholarship in Plus One will also be eligible for the scholarship during the second year subject to fulfilment of criteria. The said scholarship is given in three categories.

General Category:

Selection is made on the basis of grade marks in SSLC or equivalent examination from the total number of applications received from students belonging to BPL category. The amount is made available to the principals of the respective schools as treasury allotment to be paid to the selected students. Principals then pay the scholarship amount as an account transfer directly from the treasury to the accounts of the eligible students.

SC/ST category:

After the completion of general category elections, the applications of students belonging to SC/ST category are made available online to the district panchayat level election committee. The said committees make available the amount to the respective school principals as treasury allotment to be paid to the selected students. Then the principals are eligible The scholarship amount is paid as an account transfer directly from the treasury to the accounts of the students.

Arts/Sports/Differently-abled persons:

The beneficiaries are selected by the State Level Committee from among those who have excelled in arts and sports competitions at the national or state level and from the differently-abled category. The amount is made available to the principals of the respective schools as treasury allotment to be given to the students selected by the said committees. The principals then transfer the scholarship amount directly from the treasury to the accounts of the eligible students.

Procedure for applying:

In the accompanying application form, the application with the signatures of the student and the parent should be collected along with the supporting documents and kept as a separate file. (The said records must be kept as office records for at least three years.) The details of the applicants should be provided on the www.scholarship.dhse.kerala.gov.in portal. In the school login on the portal, principals can login using the login information of the admission user in the higher secondary admission portal HSCAP. Since the scholarship portal is linked to the admission portal, only a few details in the applications have to be made for data entry. The details of the scholarship applications should be uploaded on the portal only after proper verification. Detailed guidelines and application form are available for download below.
